Agape is a Movement!
As we enter into the Holiday Season take a moment to reflect on the Reason for the Season!
Many people forget to think of love as a verb; Love is an action. Love it's the dynamic, living embodiment of the commandment…““love your neighbor as yourself”.
Agape movement is a movement that spreads the love of God through addressing issues, gathering people's opinions and experience on various subjects. May you start this holiday season off with that very thought in mind and remember to “put the neighbor back into the hood”! ~ Happy Holidays
Reducing Gun Violence By Healing Trauma
Violence is a public health crisis and we need to heal our whole community from the ground up. Everyday people are walking around infected with the disease of violence. People are not at ease with the violence that is taking place inside of our communities. With increasing rates of gun violence the future of our children are at stake- if we don’t take action now!
How do you ask, by healing trauma “Racial Trauma”
Being black in America has caused black people to operate with a level of racial trauma. Trauma is a haunting pain, like a ghost who has taken up residence in a specific area of a house. The weight of race can be debilitating and antagonizing as you operate in a world that sees the color of your skin as a factor in how you’re perceived. For healing to happen, we must consistently and openly express our past injustices. Speaking on various topics of injustices allows for our frustrations, sorrow, and loneliness an opportunity to heal. But more than that, it allows us to connect emotionally and heal from our past as well. Collective trauma is a real concern, and as we become more clear that it is, we have to recognize that we cannot ‘one-on-one’ therapy our way out of this mental health crisis. We need the funding to go to the organizations who are already doing the work ― those who show up without the dollars, on the streets, in the churches, and at the barbershops, because they believe in our people. Not because they are trying to grab ahold of and exploit a cultural moment to make themselves look good. Let’s start with a reflective view of one’s self and start really living insied of Agape love!
Hello May!
May is mental Health awareness month. Here at The Agape Movement we are serious about mental health. We know now more than ever during these trying times of living in a pandemic and social injustice just how important it is to take care of ones mental health. We are asking the community to come together and support one another and ourselves during these times of high anxiety and isolation.
Set aside some time to free your mind by… getting outside, to listening to a favorite song, to sending a message to a loved ones, to stop and smell the roses or just do nothing at all. We hope that each activity provides a moment for self-care and connection. Enjoy the opportunity of celebrating YOU!

This Weeks Events…
This week started off with cheer and laughter inside of George Floyd Square. The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Lynx launched their “Our Courts, Our Future” program in partnership with Southside Village Boys & Girls Club (Phelps Park) located at 39th & Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis, MN. We had such a great time visiting and celebrating the smiles that filled the newly remodeled gym allowing kids to have a safe place to play. A special thank you to US Bank who stated in the beginning when George Floyd was killed that they stood with the community. Here is a great example of standing up for justice.
